Living independently means you have the skills and confidence to perform the tasks of daily living, from scheduling your day to buying the items you need, paying your bills, getting to and from work and other appointments, and finishing your chores at home. 

People with disabilities can gain confidence, feelings of self-worth, and a greater quality of life knowing they can live independently. It can be an important stepping stone to the next steps in life, such as getting a job and contributing to your community.
