Who are your people?

While it’s important to know how to take care of yourself and have a plan for doing so, it doesn’t mean you need to do it alone. There are very few of us who are capable of weathering an emergency situation without some help.

This is why we recommend creating a support network of people you know you can rely on and who can rely on you.

How to Build Your Support Network

Don’t depend on only one person as they may be out of town or unavailable when you need them.

Identify Trusted Individuals

  • Start by identifying family members, friends, neighbors, and caregivers who are reliable and willing to help in an emergency.
  • Fill out the form below with their names and contact information.
  • Be sure to communicate that you’re also there to support them.

Share Emergency Plans

  • Communicate your emergency plans with your support network.
  • Make sure they know where you will go, how to contact you, and what kind of assistance you might need, and then learn the same information from them.
  • Regularly update them on any changes to your plan.
  • Give copies of important keys to people you trust and show them where you keep your emergency supplies.

Stay Connected

  • Maintain regular contact with your support network.
  • Regular check-ins, either in person, by phone, or through digital communication, help keep your network strong and ensure everyone is prepared to act quickly in an emergency.
  • In an actual emergency, phones and the Internet may not be working, so figure out your back-up plan.

Participate in Community Programs

  • Engage in local community programs and emergency preparedness initiatives. These programs often provide valuable resources and connections that can enhance your support network.

Remember, a strong network not only helps you but also allows you to help others in your community.

Let’s become our own first responders…together.
